Landing Page Button Removal Jeffrey T. Kastner | April 16, 2014 There are a lot of people looking for a way to remove the ‘Call to Action’ Button from the Landing Page page type. The good news is, if you do not use the Headline Title, Headline Text or Call to Action Button it will not show up on the published site. What you see in the editor What is published if you *do not* use the Headline Title, Headline Text and Button The published site using only the Headline Title, Headline Text. The published site using all three. If you have used the button, the button will be stuck to the landing page. So how do you remove the button? If the Call to Action button is appearing on the published site there are a few things you can do to remove it.You should be able to change the Text in the button to read: Button Text then remove the link, and republish your site. The button should be gone. If that’s not helping, try switching to a different page of your site, in the editor, then change back to the page you were editing or reload the editor in your browser and then give it a try. Make sure to republish your site.If editing the Call to Action button isn’t working, and you are unable to remove the button from the published site, the best thing to do( not necessarily the easiest) would be to: Create a brand new page. Give this new page the same Page Title as your current page. Select the Landing page type for your new page, but do not use the Call To Action button when editing the page. Copy, or move the content/elements of the original page to the new page. To move the Header Image/Slideshow to the new page, you can edit the original page’s Header Image/Slideshow and Save To Select pages. Select the new page you have created from that list and Save. To replace the original page, move the new page into the correct position of your site’s navigation then delete the original page. What you will be left with is a duplicate of your original page but without the button. The alternate solution to remove the Call to Action button on the Landing page would be to make a custom Theme, or make customizations to the Theme your site is using. Note: Making changes to a Theme should only be done of you are comfortable with making such changes and any future updates that would otherwise be included in the Standard Weebly Theme. You can edit the Theme, then select the landing.html page type. In the HTML of the page you need to delete the following line: {action:button global=”false”} This will delete the button from any page using the Landing Page page type. Then you will need to Save your custom Theme. In this case, it might also be worth creating a new page type called no-button, then copying the entire html of the landing.html to your new page type, but exclude the code that makes the button. The End! …of the Button on the Landing Page. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: August 21, 2014 at 5:24 am Hi JM, If you are not seeing this from your computer, but you are seeing on your mobile device, try clearing your mobile devices browser history/cache. Reply Raygine says: September 16, 2014 at 2:33 am I am able to delete the button from the landing page but when my friends go to my website via their cell phones, the button is still there. What do you suggest? Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: September 16, 2014 at 3:27 am Hi Raygine, It looks like the button is still attached to your @mail.harvard.edu Email. Double check that the Email link is no longer attached to your button, the try republishing your site. That should do it! Reply Chris Smith says: October 8, 2014 at 8:20 am I’ve gotten rid of the button but there is still white text below my landing page paragraphs which says “LEARN MORE”. How do I get rid of it, or use it for that matter. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: October 8, 2014 at 10:05 am Sorry, I’m not entirely sure what text you are referring to. If you can include a link to your published website I’d be happy to take a closer look. Reply Chris Smith says: October 8, 2014 at 3:38 am http://lakeerielawn.weebly.com/ Sorry, I should have done that to begin with. It’s not very noticeable as it’s white but it’s underneath the paragraph body in between it and the button. Maybe it’s just a problem with the template? Reply Chris Smith says: October 8, 2014 at 3:40 am It appears on every page in the same place. Reply Chris Smith says: October 9, 2014 at 6:52 am It’s very faint due to background color, but I still see it after clearing cache in Chrome. I’ll see if other people can see it too I suppose. http://s28.postimg.org/ilrdxcuh9/learnmore.jpg http://s9.postimg.org/xh5fj0l4r/learnmore.jpg?noCache=1412880487 Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: October 9, 2014 at 12:03 pm Morning Chris, I’m not seeing that text on any page. So it’s possible you were able to correct this? If you are still seeing it, it might be your browser. In that case you may want to clear your browser cache to see if that helps. Let me know if you need any further help, Reply Becky says: December 2, 2014 at 2:08 am Worked like a charm! Thanks Reply Matt says: January 10, 2015 at 4:59 am Thank you, but I’ve got a hiccup… I was able to delete the button but it still shows in the Mobile optimized view. I checked and it is nowhere in the code. Just to be clear, this is not a cache issue, since it shows in the actual Weebly mobile preview. And I had even temp. published it to check out on my phone and had the same results. Any suggestions? Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: January 11, 2015 at 1:18 am Hi Matt, It sounds like you’ve deleted the HTML button tag from the landing page HTML, but the mobile design has its own page type/HTML code and the page is still a ‘landing’ page type and therefore the mobile version still sees it as a landing page and is including a button. In this case the best option would be to create a new page type and select one of the alternate page types as the type of page, then add you’re landing page code to that.
