Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: November 27, 2012 at 1:51 am Hey Jen, Glad I could help,. Unfortunately there’s no option to add the pin it button directly next to the Twitter and Facebook buttons, but you can add it to the bottom of each blog post to have it show up by the other buttons. Unfortunately you’ll also need to manually create each button using the “Pin It Button for Web Sites” on the Goodies page, here: http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/#button_for_websites Then you would use Weebly’s custom HTML element to add it to the bottom of each post. Hopefully there’s some future upgrades from both, for more flexibility. Thx for writing, Jeffrey Reply Monique says: November 28, 2012 at 1:52 am You ROCK!!!!! Reply Iftkhar Ahmed says: March 7, 2013 at 1:39 am You are a great, straight forward, teacher. Your instructions worked exactly as promised. Thank you. Reply Jenny says: March 13, 2013 at 8:54 am That’s definitely what I did. But the tag still has the html at the end, and looks like the first example. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: March 13, 2013 at 9:09 am That should be the issue. If you click the “Verify with a Meta Tag” link highlighted in step 2 you would be presented with a meta tag., like what is shown in my step 3. That should do it for you. If you need more help, it might be helpful for you to send me screenshots of what you are seeing. You can use my contact form to contact me directly. Reply Nancy says: March 13, 2013 at 9:33 am this isn’t working for me. Pinterest says “we couldn’t find the meta tag. we checked at *the name of my site*.” any ideas? Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: March 13, 2013 at 8:19 am Sorry I didn’t catch your site’s URL, I’d be happy to take a closer look. It’s possible you and Jenny both made the same mistake(see below). Reply Jenny says: March 13, 2013 at 12:08 pm I’m having trouble. It says it can’t find it. Could it be that I have more than one meta tag already? Thanks Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: March 13, 2013 at 8:31 am Hi Jenny,, It looks like Pinterest Updated the way the process looks so I have updated a few pics as well. It looks like you used <meta name=”p:domain_verify” content=”pinterest-77a02.html” /> The pinterest-77a02.html is actually the HTML File Verification. If you look back to step #2 you’ll see the the “Verify With Meta Tag” highlighted in a green box. That’s the ‘code’ you need, and it will look something like: <meta name=”p:domain_verify” content=”6f94833d723ee1a1a09a8690067b825d” > The second half will be a random string like 6f94833d723ee1a1a09a8690067b825d Let me know how that goes. Thank you. Big one. Reply Randy Smith says: September 24, 2013 at 9:22 am This is a very nice how to, but it brings up another issue. This meta tag breaks validation for HTML 5, with the error: “Bad value p:domain_verify for attribute name on element meta: Keyword p:domain_verify is not registered.” And of course, new users cannot register anything ‘due to spamming’. Any workarounds that you are aware of? I assume the tag has to stay up even after verification goes through… Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: September 25, 2013 at 1:37 am Hey Randy, Unfortunately validators are not 100% accurate. The code you have added to your site is correct, and you should not need to keep it there although it doesn’t hurt to leave it. If you were able to verify the site, then what you did was correct. Sorry I’m not aware of “new users cannot register anything ‘due to spamming’.” So I’m not able to answer hrs but you can try the support pages or support team. Reply Aidana says: September 8, 2014 at 4:59 am I’m glad I decided to search the web for an answer to this, and doubly glad that your instructions were much more helpful than Pinterest’s ‘go to non-existent weebly forum’. Reply Liz Birch says: September 11, 2014 at 4:12 am Thank you VERY much! I was struggling trying to figure this out. I finally found your site. 🙂 You’re instructions were very easy! Reply Piper Lily says: September 13, 2014 at 5:48 am Hi Jeffery, I followed your instructions but when I go back to verify on Pinterest, it says “Opps! Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later.”. I chatted with Weebly and they said it seemed right on their end and what I’ve done on my site. Pinterest on the other hand said it could be 3 business days before they reply to my email help. If you have any ideas, I’d be glad to know. This is what I pasted into the header section of the SEO. <meta name=”p:domain_verify” content=”be798623e3e2e944d5db1bf296999ee7″/> Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: September 13, 2014 at 6:38 am Hi, Looks like you have everything right, but it appears that Pinterest is having issues on their end. Not sure how long it’ll take Pinterest to correct the issue, but you should be able to go back and verify later, without issue. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: September 13, 2014 at 6:57 am Actually…. Your site is verified, see: http://www.pinterest.com/piperlilyorders/ but Pinterest is having an issue with the verification process. Not sure if they will require re-verification (for the settings tab process to complete/show it was verified) but according to your page, your site has been verified. Reply Piper Lily says: September 13, 2014 at 7:38 am Thank you Jeffrey for looking at it. I was feeling a bit crazy. 😀 Reply Cole Melville says: September 19, 2014 at 1:39 am Thank you so much! Couldn’t find this anywhere. Reply Kim says: October 13, 2014 at 9:30 am Hi Jeffrey — Your directions are very clear, but I keep getting a message that Pinterest can’t find my domain. The weebly site forwards to a GoDaddy domain, which is the url I’m trying to verify. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Thanks. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: October 13, 2014 at 12:40 pm Hi Kim, That may be an issue with Pinterest, and their verification process. Check your Pinterest profile page to see if your website is appearing there. Reply Kim says: October 15, 2014 at 12:19 pm Website link is there and operational, but still no checkmark. http://www.pinterest.com/lawineaux/ Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: October 15, 2014 at 12:50 pm Looks like Pinterest remove the check mark, but I hadn’t updated my screenshots. Those should be updated momentarily.Thx. Reply Kim says: October 15, 2014 at 1:18 am One of my friends verified recently and got a check mark. I’m just getting an error message – “Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later.” It’s a GoDaddy domain, but a weebly site Reply Stephanie says: January 15, 2015 at 3:40 am I have the same issue… if anyone finds a solution I would love to hear it! Reply Katie Garcia says: March 21, 2015 at 11:17 am I am also struggling. I have a “GoDaddy domain” as well, but a weebly site. I did everything you suggested Jeffrey. My error message says the same thing Kim’s says. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: March 21, 2015 at 11:51 am Hi Katie, Pinterest has been having some problems with their verification. Make sure to check your Pinterest profile page to see if Pinterest has verified your domain. Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: January 15, 2015 at 9:18 am Hi Stephanie, Looks like you were able to verify your site. But it sounds like Pinterest is still having trouble with their verification process. Reply Louis K Lowy says: January 17, 2015 at 8:44 am Thanks so much – worked like a charm! Reply Jeremy says: January 21, 2015 at 9:02 am I am also having the same problem. Anyway to fix this? Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: January 22, 2015 at 12:28 pm Hi Jeremy, It’s possible the domain was verified but Pinterest is having a problem with their verification process. If your website URL was verified, it will appear on your Pinterest profile page(like shown in the first screenshot in this blog post) so you can check your Pinterest profile page to see if it worked or not. If your website URL appears on your Pinterest profile page, then you can disregard the error message that you received when trying to verify the domain(because it did verify). I guess the only way to stop that ‘false’ notification, would be to get Pinterest’s attention and have them correct the issue they are having with their verification process. Reply Marjorie says: February 26, 2015 at 3:00 am Thank You So much for this post! I was going crazy trying to figure it out! You are a life saver! Reply Alexa C says: February 26, 2015 at 7:23 am After spending thirty minutes fruitlessly going back and forth between Weebly, GoDaddy and Pinterest I finally searched “weebly host verify pinterest” on Google and found your post! (2nd result on Google btw). Five minutes later I’m done. Thank you SO MUCH for this incredibly helpful post. Reply Alysia says: March 24, 2015 at 3:22 am I followed all these steps and it’s not working. ?? My URL is from GoDaddy, and it’s forwarded to my client’s Weebly site. Suggestions?? Reply Jeffrey Kastner says: March 24, 2015 at 3:33 am Hi Alysia, The meta-verification code is only going to work on the URL that is being published to the Weebly site. If you are forwarding a domain, you should be able to use the file verification method. This would need to be done in the GoDaddy account. When verifying your site in Pinterest you would you need to use the “can’t use meta-tag? Verify by upload” option. Reply TwistedLilmOnsters says: April 14, 2015 at 4:06 am OMigosh!!
